SALEAF is an Association incorporated under section 21 of the Companies Act.

The association is currently applying for registration as a Public Benefit Organisation (PBO) for exemption from payment of Income Tax, and for approval for Tax Deductible donations.

SALEAF is required to be audited annually and its activities are open to public scrutiny.

This is welcome, given the organisation’s ethos of total transparency.

SALEAF invites you to support the our worthy objectives. The future success of SALEAF will be dependent on your present and continued support. The association hopes that sufficient funds are raised on a continuing basis  to create a sustainable fund that will support future generations of young aspirant South African students of Lebanese descent.

Through the generous philanthropic support of the founding members of the association sufficient funds will be raised to put at least one student through his/her tertiary education in 2007. This is however a fraction of the greater goals the association has set itself. In order to succeed in our mission we need to engage many more donors from the wider South African Lebanese community.

How Can I Assist?

SALEAF has planned the following methods of raising funds:

· Discretionary Donations. A discretionary donation to SALEAF may be utilised at the discretion of  the directors of SALEAF in carrying out the objectives of the association to further the tertiary education of worthy applicants.

· Non Discretionary Donations. A non discretionary donation to SALEAF entitles the donor to give specific instructions as to how the donation is to be utilised. ie For a specific course or to an individual who has excelled in a particular subject, etc. It further gives the donor possible naming rights i.e. “The John Doe Scholarship for studies in Engineering”. The donor is however restricted from nominating a specific beneficiary . This decision vests solely with the directors of SALEAF.
